Food Safety Programmes (FSPs) and effective training are essential in any food preparation/handling business as food companies need to meet increasingly stringent customer and regulatory assurance requirements.

Many distribution and transport operators are  required to have a retailer owned  food safety or risk management programme in place and find these difficult to maintain.  In addition, the Food Act 2014 requires adjustment and changes to existing programmes. MPI consultation with industry on the necessary regulations occured during 2015 before the Act was enforced in March 2016.
