MANAGEMENT TEAM

Anne-Marie Arts
MBA, Dip. Bus. (Marketing), B. Hort.Sc., NZCQA
Managing Director
Anne-Marie was a founding director of the business in 2000 and her professional interests revolve around post-harvest management systems and quality management of fresh food, particularly fresh produce. Anne-Marie is the New Zealand representative on the Food Safety Committee of the International Federation for Produce Standards. She is also a member of the International Society for Horticultural Science.

Massimo Ciccioni
M. Hort.Sc.
Director, IVA & Survey
Massimo is responsible for the IVA & Survey part of the business. This involves fresh produce import and export inspections, managing mystery shopping programmes commissioned by clients looking for objective data on how their products fare once they reach the retail shelves and co-ordinating the residue sampling programmes run on behalf of regulators and industry participants.  Massimo is also a Biosecurity Trainer for our Accredited Person / Transitional Facility Operator training courses.

Dr Hans Maurer

Director, Strategy & Marketing
Hans was a founding director of the business in 2000. His focus is business leadership and providing strategic advice to key clients. Hans’ professional interests revolve around all strategic value chain aspects of international agribusiness, particularly in the marketing challenges related to fruits and vegetables. Hans is an Executive Committee member of United Fresh Incorporated, a trustee of the 5+ A Day Charitable Trust and the New Zealand director on the Board of the International Federation for Produce Standards. Hans is also a member of the Royal Society of New Zealand, the Institute of Directors and the International Management Centres Association.

Jack Wen

Accountant
Jack manages the financial affairs of the company. He is the first point of contact for all Accounts enquiries. Jack can also assist our Chinese speaking clients when our Chinese trainer is not available.

April Millman

Manager, Lower North Island
April’s background in horticulture, her 9 years’ experience working for the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), as well as more recent Inspection & Audit experience in relation to exports provide a wealth of knowledge to share with our Lower North Island clients.  April is the primary contact for our Lower North Island based customers. Her role covers all aspects of the organisation’s business from Biosecurity training for our Accredited Person and Transitional Facility Operator training courses to support for Transitional Facilities in meeting their compliance requirements. April works very closely with Bevan Ceran as part of our growing National Biosecurity Consultancy practice. As a member of the IVA & Survey Team, April is also involved in the assessment / inspection of fresh fruits and vegetables at client premises and auditing of Ministry Approved Organisations (MAOs).

Melissa Zainey

Coordinator, South Island
Melissa is based in Christchurch and worked as an industrial Health & Safety Trainer focussing on hazardous substances for 2 years prior to joining  The AgriChain Centre. Melissa is the initial contact for all our South Island clients.  She works as part of both our Biosecurity and Survey Teams and calls on the resources of the entire company to meet the needs of our South Island clientele.  Her role covers all aspects of the organisation’s business from Biosecurity training for our Accredited Person and Transitional Facility Operator training courses to support for Transitional Facilities in meeting their compliance requirements.

PROJECTS TEAM

Melanie Trotman

Project Manager
Melanie manages all project delivery activity for the business and works with all section managers in achieving the outcomes we have contracted with our clients.  This includes management of our Quality Management System and ensuring that we meet all accreditation requirements.  Melanie manages a team of two project officers.

Jacob Lawes

Project Officer
As our Projects Officer, Jacob works in a project co-ordination and support role, also covering Health and Safety compliance as well as maintaining our Quality Management Systems.

Bevan Ceran

Biosecurity Manager
Bevan’s previous roles with both the Department of Conservation and the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has provided experience in Quarantine Inspections, training development, auditing and a passion for ensuring that the New Zealand environment is protected. Bevan is involved in a wide range of our activities including Quality Assessments of fresh produce, management and development of our Biosecurity and Produce Training programmes, training delivery for Accredited Person and Transitional Facility Operator training and the range of IVA services we offer. Bevan works closely with both the IVA and Biosecurity teams providing consultancy advice, training and services to our clients.

Travis Brown
BHSc (Hons) Psych.
Training Administrator
Travis is responsible for the administration of our training courses. He maintains training and company records in our database and our reporting requirements to the Ministry for Primary Industries. Travis is the first point of contact for any Biosecurity training bookings or general enquiries and can point Transitional Facility Operators in the right direction. He is also one of the main contacts for Biosecurity enquiries and assists clients with their Biosecurity Manual development and applications to MPI for new facilities.

Jimmy Tofa-Su’a

Biosecurity Trainer
Jimmy is an experienced trainer with an adult education background, having previously provided training facilitation in freight forwarding for the Best Pacific Institute of Education. Jimmy’s Samoan roots ensures he has cultural awareness of the different learning styles of our widely diverse Auckland trainees. Jimmy is involved in the area of Biosecurity training for both Accredited Persons and Transitional Facility Operator training. He is also one of the main contacts for our Auckland based Biosecurity clients providing assistance with their Biosecurity Manual development, applications to MPI for new facilities and conducting site assessments.

Scott Morrison
M.Sc. (Zoology), B.Sc. (Ecology, minor in Zoology)
Biosecurity Trainer
Scott is a Biosecurity Trainer for both Accredited Persons and Transitional Facility Operator training. Scott’s background and interest in ecology and environmental science mean that he is very aware of the importance of Biosecurity in the protection of New Zealand from unwanted pests and diseases impacting on the environment and our primary industries.  Scott also works closely with our Biosecurity Services team, assisting our Auckland based Biosecurity clients and providing assistance with their Biosecurity Manual development, applications to MPI for new facilities and conducting site assessments.

Carrie Chen
G. Dip. FoodTech, B.Sc. (Food Engineering)
Biosecurity Trainer/Internal Auditor
Carrie is an experienced Auckland based Accredited Person trainer.  Her background in Food Engineering sees her helping out in the Food Safety area when required. Carrie is also the company’s Internal Auditor and she is kept busy ensuring the business sticks to a path of continuous improvement, in line with our accreditations.

Yvonne Gao

Food Safety Manager
Yvonne assists clients, primarily in the fresh food / produce arena, with the preparation and implementation of Food Safety and Quality Management Programmes.  She also develops and delivers customised Food Safety training for clients to meet their specific needs.  With a background in Quality Assurance and Quality Control as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering, Yvonne recommends practical solutions for our clients.  She also conducts GAP analysis and internal audits to ensure that clients achieve the level of compliance required for their business.

Yinan Tian

Yinan’s primary role involves the assessment and monitoring of fresh fruits and vegetables at client premises. Yinan is also involved in sampling and mystery shopping projects that the organisation undertakes for commercial and regulatory clients.

SUPPORT TEAM

Andrea Young
Team Leader Administration
Andrea is responsible for the administration of our training courses and general office administration. Andrea also works as part of the Biosecurity Services Team to maintain training and company records in our database, manage Biosecurity sales and assist with Transitional Facility requirements in relation to Biosecurity obligations.  In addition, Andrea also handles our Payroll to ensure that we all get paid!  You may well get a call from Andrea too if invoices are not paid on time as she chases accounts receivable or equally she may be the person on the end of the phone when you make a training booking.

Lisa Ritchie
Media Co-ordinator
Lisa manages the company’s media activities and is responsible for all things related to visual imagery. Lisa’s design skills ensure a professional presentation in all marketing activities and her involvement in most of the company’s research projects.
