As the vital importance of food safety and quality in fresh produce becomes ever more recognised, there is an increasing need for industry training programmes that are created specifically for New Zealand conditions.
Conventional classroom or distance learning programmes often do not meet the training needs of produce industry staff and practical short courses have been found to be a more appropriate learning style.
The AgriChain Centre has developed a suite of training programmes for the New Zealand fresh produce industry. They are aimed at groups of industry personnel who need to understand specific aspects of produce handling and management and how to maintain food safety & quality.
Practical Fresh Produce Handling for Warehouse Personnel is a three-hour introductory workshop aimed at warehouse staff.
An Introduction to Managing Fresh Produce Quality is a one-day programme for buying, sales and quality control personnel.
Meeting Client Specifications (Seasonal Crop Workshop) is a half day course to help the inwards goods staff & growers to understand quality requirements of client specs for the specific crops relating to that season.
