Practical Fresh Produce Handling for Warehouse / Packhouse Personnel:

 

This three hour introduction to fresh produce is intended to give staff a basic understanding of fresh produce handling in a packhouse/warehouse environment.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

Suitable for all packhouse/warehouse personnel who handle fresh produce.

WHAT THE COURSE COVERS:

It is a practical, hands-on course and the programme covers the management issues present in most produce warehouses, including:

  • Why good produce handling is important
  • How fresh produce gets damaged
  • How produce loses condition and weight
  • Identifying and managing quality problems
  • Temperature management of fresh produce
  • Good produce handling practices
  • Weight checking – Why it matters and how to check weight effectively
  • Basic food safety for fresh produce handlers.

A short interactive quiz confirms that participants understand the content of the programme.

A certificate of attendance is issued to programme participants.

A record of attendance is provided to employers’ for their food safety, quality and staff induction purposes.
