Transitional Facility Operator Workshop
MAF Biosecurity New Zealand (MAFBNZ) now requires Transitional Facilities to have an Approved Transitional Facility Operator. Companies where the Operator covers more than one site may require a Deputy Operator as well. This workshop will help you understand the importance of your role as a Transitional Facility Operator. We hold these workshops nationwide.
All Operators and Deputy Operators of Transitional Facilities are required to be trained (or have proof that they will be undertaking training - e.g. booking confirmation) prior to your company's MAFBNZ audit in the 2008/2009 financial year (this means by June 30th 2009).
Our trainer’s are supportive and will ensure everyone is comfortable in the class. No matter what background trainees have, we work hard to ensure they feel comfortable and supported.
By the end of this workshop you’ll be able to:
- Describe what biosecurity is and why it is important
- Explain the pathway that an import may take and identify where its key biosecurity checkpoints are
- Explain the roles and responsibilities of the main players in biosecurity
- Describe the links between legislation, standards, and operating manuals
- Explain the legal requirements for biosecurity in New Zealand and the consequences of not complying
- Identify the required biosecurity procedures for your own Transitional Facility to meet the MAFBNZ Biosecurity Standard.
Attendees must:
- Be able to speak and write English fluently to complete this training course successfully.
- Bring a copy of their existing operating procedure/manual if already managing an approved facility.
